The Kerala Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation (KCMMF) was formed in 1980 as part of the National Dairy Programme ‘Operation Flood’.
It remains a three-tiered organization, with primary societies organized under Regional Co-operative Milk Producers’ Union (RCMPUs) in Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam and Malabar regions. At the apex level, KCMMF functions from its headquarters in Thiruvananthapuram.
MILMA produce and distribute pasteurized Vitamin-A enriched milk throughout the state, fulfilling a national goal of self-sufficiency. The Federation’s goal is “the socio-economic progress of the dairy farmer”, but this goal seems to be receding with increasing per capita milk consumption in Kerala.
KCMMF is content with its past achievements, which include close associations and bonds with National Dairy Development Board (NDDB), Animal Husbandry Department, Dairy Development Department and Kerala Livestock Development Board.
